Courtyard of the Crible house called 'the Pink Tower'

16 Beef Street

The Maison du Crible, also known as the "Pink Tower" because of its characteristic ochre spiral staircase, is located at 16 rue du Bœuf in the 5th arrondissement of Lyon, in the heart of Vieux Lyon. This building is one of the most remarkable in this historic district for its Renaissance architecture and the tower that adorns it, from which it takes its name. Listed as a historic monument since 1937, the house bears witness to the rich history of the Saint-Jean district.

Among the notable events associated with this building, we remember the visit of King Henry IV in 1600. The King of France stayed there for a few days during his marriage to Marie de Medici, celebrated at the Primatiale Saint-Jean, located just a few hundred meters away.

Today, the house houses the French Orthodox parish. As for the famous restaurant "La Tour Rose", formerly located on the ground floor of the building, it was moved to another address on rue du Bœuf, while retaining its emblematic name in reference to the famous staircase tower.

These details, combining history and architecture, make the Maison du Crible an unmissable site of Lyon's heritage, attracting both history enthusiasts and architecture lovers.
