House of the Golden Bustard, Old Lyon

Built in 1487, this building along the street (19 rue du Boeuf) adopted the name of the sign, made of stones carved by the poultry merchant in 1708, bearing the motto: 'I am worth more than all game'. This sign represents a bustard, a species of wild guinea fowl. The little bustard, also called a little bustard, is a rare wading bird once prized for its delicious flesh.

Admire the architecture

Take a moment to admire its façade: its mullioned windows, the semicircular arch above the door enclosing the wrought iron opening, all bear witness to the period of construction of this building. When you enter the courtyard, you can appreciate the galleries, the spiral staircase and the two corbelled turrets.
